Hard at Work!

We have been hard at work this week. We made fresh squeezed lemonade on Tuesday afternoon for our lemonade stand on Wednesday. We made two gallons of lemonade and sold every last drop! Everyone worked well together as a team. Each stand (we have two) had a cashier, a person in charge of the ice, and a pourer.

Buddy the dog came for a visit on Tuesday. Everyone got to take him for a walk, play fetch with him, and give him treats. There were lots of smiles and hugs from everyone.

Everyone has been working hard on their sight words. We have seen a lot of improvement this week in students ability to recognize the words. We have been playing games with flashcards to practice our words.

We did a Weekly Freaky Review of Freaky Friday. Each student had to give a detail from our reading this week. They did a great job recalling a detail and writing a sentence. After they wrote their sentence, they drew a picture that described the sentence.

On Friday we did Zumba. We danced to the chicken dance, Who Let the Dogs Out?, the hokey pokey, and many more songs.

Enjoy your weekend and try to stay cool!

Summer Sight Words

This summer we will be focusing on identifying sight words. Below are all the words that we will be focusing on. Your child will only be working on one of the sight word list. Additionally, everyone will be working on identifying all ten theme words. These are words that will help them run our lemonade stand this summer.

Sight Word 1: and, the, for, have, help, you, said, it, in, can
Sight Word 2: myself, would, those, these, gave, which, their, together, why, when
Theme Words: thank, lemonade, pitcher, fresh, squeezed, price, sugar, water, lemon, microwave

I will be sending home a list of the words your child is focusing on. Feel free to work with them at home. If you have any questions about the way in which your child is best able to identify the words, please feel free to contact me via email or phone.

Thanks for your support as we help to build the reading skills of your child!
