On Friday, July 29th, the entire school participated in The Great Race. It was a schoolwide scavenger hunt that took us to almost every part of the building and included lots of different activities. We started out by warming up to Eye of the Tiger. We had to shoot hoops, run bases, solve jigsaw puzzles, complete a word search, decode a secret message, find our way through a computer to find a clue, and many more tasks. Everyone participated and there was great teamwork! In order to finish we had to collect 11 tokens.

After we finished the race we waited in our room for all teams to finish. We cooled off with a glass of water and waited for Mr. Kevin to get the results. We all went down to the Multi Purpose Room for the much anticipated results. We finished in fourth place, but it was close! The most important thing was that everyone had fun and everyone participated. We all got Kit Kat bars to take home and enjoy.

Camp Smile

Our class showing off our new T-shirts!
We had a wonderful day at Camp Smile. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We had perfect weather for a fun day outside. We met new friends and many of us got to do activities which we have never had the chance to do. It was great to see Max and Cody.

When we arrived, everyone got to make a name tag to wear around their neck for the day. Cody has been at camp since last week and we had the chance to catch up with him before attendance. We sang camp songs and then broke into our groups that we would spend the day with...then the real fun began!

There were four active stations which everyone had the chance to participate in...
The bouncing horses- Kids and adults sat on a bouncy horse and raced each other to the finish line. It took a lot of coordination and strength to stay on the horse and bounce at the same time.
Chaya on the bouncing horses.
The rock wall- Kids got to climb as high as they could go. Most of the class tried the rock wall out...Jon even made it all the way to the top. When he got there he sounded a bell and repelled down the wall.

The human velcro- Kids put on a velcro body suit and threw themselves into a velcro wall. They had fun making fun shapes and designs with their bodies. The hard part was getting themselves off the wall!

The monster truck bounce house- Almost everyone got in the bounce house, some were even throwing themselves off the wall! Everyone had a lot of fun getting all their extra energy out.

There was one relaxation station where kids decorated door hangers for their rooms. This was done in the air conditioned field house. It was a welcome relief to go inside and cool off, drink some water, and relax before going back out into the hot sun!

Before lunch we took a nature hike and sang camp songs. After a busy morning, we were all ready to sit down, relax, and enjoy lunch. Camp Smile provided sandwiches, snacks, and drinks for us to enjoy. They even made our sandwiches to order, all we had to do was tell them what we wanted on it! It was a special treat.

Everyone got Camp Smile t-shirts, which we all wore on Tuesday to take a group shot. We will be working on a thank you card to send to the camp and we will be putting a picture of the whole group in with it.
